Selecting the Interior materials and colours

Apart from all the dramas (good and not always so good) with work and family life, we are also trying to find time to select colours and styles of cabinetry, bench tops, wallpapers, carpets and tiles.

We have found it quite easy to select the joinery colours.  Hoping to make things easier, we plan to select the same materials and colours to use throughout the house. For example we have chosen Laminex Freestyle bench tops for the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms.

We settled on a colour called 'Coconut Milk' which definitely suits our Balinese style theme.  You can view more about this product on the Laminex website here. The real sample 'Coconut Milk' is a bit lighter than what it shows in the picture.  The Freestyle range is a solid, man made acrylic and polyester surface.  It has the feel of stone but not the price.  Comes in 12 or 30mm thickness.  We chose the 30mm slab.  My clever hubby will form and shape the bench tops himself.

With the actual joinery cabinetry, we are using a mixture of two brands.  From Laminex here we will use 'Alaskan' from the 'Crystalgloss Clear' Range and from the Polytec brand here we have chosen from the 'Createc' range and will use 'Quarry Micro Gloss', 'Malt Gloss' and possibly 'Shannon Oak Gloss'.

I received some wallpaper samples in the post today...and wow how beautiful they were.  More about this when I decide we decide which ones we will use.  Somebody (not me) is sure that he sees images in the prints (okay maybe there are faces when you focus on the pattern of some ;) but how pretty the images are....

Selected some tiles today.  Going for porcelain in two colours.  Still to decide which to go for.  Also picked up some carpet samples.  Haven't decided on that either yet.  But did you know there is a new range of carpet out, supposedly 'eco-friendly'...donned the 'new generation of carpet', made in part from sugar cane.  Or was it corn syrup?
